James began his relationship with Leading Teams as a client in 2009 when he assumed the presidency of a premier A-Grade amateur football club. He then introduced Leading Teams into his business at NAB. Throughout these client experiences James has remained a passionate advocate of the Leading Teams facilitation model and attributes much of the success in his business life to the impact Leading Teams has had on culture and performance in both sports and business.
James joined Leading Teams in Melbourne in October 2016 and brings over 30 years of professional experience gained in banking, chartered accounting and sports administration. James recently left NAB where he was a General Manager; his responsibilities included leading many significant strategic transactions for NAB where teamwork, an agreed common purpose, sense of urgency and excellence were key ingredients to success. He also served as Executive Director on various NAB subsidiary boards.
James is a chartered accountant by profession and holds an MBA from Melbourne Business School as well as being a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. James has led teams in Australia, the USA and in the UK and has also worked in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. He attributes his successes in business to his ability to focus on building strong relationships, agreeing purpose and empowering his people and teams to achieve high performance outcomes.
“When the sliding doors moment arrived earlier this year and I decided to close out my time in banking, Leading Teams was the first thought I had for the next stage in my career. Fortunately, the transition has come to pass and I can bring to Leading Teams a range of experiences, skills and a passion for people and high performance that I genuinely believe can add value to Leading Teams and to our clients.”
