We work with professional and community sporting organisations to build team-first cultures where high performance and honest feedback are the standard, not the exception.
While most of our work is now in business, education, and government, sports teams remain a powerful example of what’s possible with a strong team culture. Leading Teams has worked with 16 of 18 AFL clubs over several decades, and the results speak for themselves.
The Sydney Swans broke a 72-year drought with premiership wins in 2005 and 2012. The Brisbane Lions won the 2024 AFL Premiership, having made the finals in 6 consecutive years. Hawthorn Football Club used our model to bounce back after a 2012 Grand Final loss. According to player Luke Hodge, it proved a turning point that helped the team win three successive premierships.
As proud as we are of our AFL legacy, our sporting partnerships extend well beyond football. We’ve helped rugby league and union clubs, NBL teams, racing clubs, and the Australian basketball and Netball teams achieve extraordinary results too.
Ray McLean is expert in assisting organisations to develop their culture and values. An outstanding facilitator and communicator, he emphasises the importance of individuals taking responsibility and becoming leaders to achieve better team results.

I don’t think it matters whether it’s a sporting organisation, a business or a charity, you still need to find a way to effectively lead people to where you want the organisation to go. Anyone can benefit from this program.

Supported by Leading Teams, I led a high performance culture where our trademark was revered by players past and present. With a strong culture in place, the Diamonds went on to win 81% of their matches, becoming one of the most successful international sporting teams in the world.

The [High Performing Teams] program is a very important part of what the players still do. It’s the simplicity of it that is the strength of it, I think.
