Although Leading Teams’ core work is within organisations and teams to help them become high performing, the High Performance Leadership program was developed six years ago to satisfy demand from individuals that wanted to learn the Leading Teams principles but didn’t have the capacity for us to work at organisation level.

Since its inception in 2011, it has gone from strength to strength so I was keen to run a program myself in Melbourne.

At first, I was reluctant to run a female specific program because my belief is that if true gender equality is to exist, then we shouldn’t embrace gender specific programs. However, after many conversations with friends and acquaintances, I realised that to support the feminist movement to reach gender equality, specific support needs to be provided to females in leadership. I’m grateful for the support that’s been given to me on my leadership journey and I’d like to do the same for others.

Leading Teams facilitator, Clara McCormack

Having only worked in hierarchical organisations with autocratic leaders before joining Leading Teams in 2012, I did not understand the concept of speaking up and giving feedback to managers or colleagues. I had never experienced an empowerment model and it took some time for me to understand how it works.

With assistance from my colleagues, I learned how to have a genuine conversation by reinforcing productive behaviour and challenging unproductive behaviour. By keeping emotion out of feedback and having a behavioural framework as a reference point, I learnt that feedback isn’t personal and is necessary to improve performance.

Having self-awareness and a good understanding of myself as a person and a leader is important for consistent improvement. I am now able to have any conversations in the workplace that need to happen for me to operate at my full potential.

My High Performance Leadership program is for women who are driven and motivated to become outstanding leaders. There will be a focus around resilience, self-awareness, decision-making, and self-reflection so we can build confidence in our leadership capability whilst addressing the specific challenges that females face in the workplace. I am passionate about developing people to become high performing and am excited to be able to start this program in July.

If you’re interested in hearing more about the program, download the program brochure or submit your details below and I’ll be in touch.
