Titans NRLW

After finishing last in the 2022 season, the Gold Coast Titans NRLW team decided they needed more than a tactical reset. They needed a cultural transformation.

Head Coach Karyn Murphy partnered with Leading Teams to lay the foundations of a high-performing environment. Together with the playing group, they co-created a powerful team trademark for the 2023 season: “Junkyard Dogs”.

As many who follow the Leading Teams model know, a team trademark is more than a slogan. It’s a mindset.

Some of their team’s agreed valued showed up fast in their training and effort. Others, like being united, took longer to develop as new players built trust and connection. But it quickly became embedded in daily language and behaviours, and modelled by the leadership group.

The result? An extraordinary turnaround: from bottom of the ladder to NRLW Grand Finalists in just one season.

The Titans’ story proves that when a team owns its culture, performance follows.
